Magnus Carlsen to challenge Viswanathan Anand for the World Chess

World number one Norway’s Magnus Carlsen earned the authority to challenge Viswanathan Anand for the World title by winning the planet Chess Candidates Tournament working in london. However, he was defeated within the fianls by Russia’s Peter Svidler , leading to tie with Vladimir Kramnik at 8.5 points but was declared winner because of more number of victories - four to Kramnik’s three. Since March 15, eight players battled underneath the double round-robin format to find the challenger to Anand on the planet championship match scheduled in October-November, 2013.

Carlsen may be the holder of the all-time high rating of 2872 - surpassing the prior best of 2851 by former World champion Gary Kasparov this past year.
